Q: Why do you charge for memberships?
A: Charging a small fee keeps out web robots that spam advertising into otherwise free sites. It also discourages non-chess coaches who may join just to get the software for free.

The software you are getting is not free. We're giving it to you in hopes that you will use it to create new lessons. You can sell or give away your original lessons to your students.  Your students will need to purchase Susan Polgar Teaches Chess in order to view your lessons.
